For extraordinary achievements as a high school athlete or as a coach in a Woodford County School

Don Lane, VHS, 1961 – The basketball player and coach was the all-time VHS leading scorer, he had 509 wins coaching Transylvania University, and he is a member of the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame and the NAIA Hall of Fame.

Priscilla Blackford, WCHS, 1980 – was a basketball player with more than 1,000 points and she was the first Woodford female to receive a full athletic scholarship. She also is a member of the Morehead State Athletic Hall of Fame.

I would like to nominate The Woodford County High School Wrestling Team, they have won13 state championship since1970, in the years of 1972,’73,’74 they won 3 State Championship in a roll, the only school in the state to do so! If my records are correct they not lost a 100 matches yet. In 2000 the were mentioned in a national magazine for high school sports as 78 in the nation as one of the top 100 team of the millennium! They run the states second oldest and largest tournament, The Woodford Co. Invitational tournament, starting in 1971!
    Thank you for your consideration!
